The Barrel Project: About The Venue

The Barrel Project, nestled beneath one of the old railway arches on the famous Bermondsey Beer Mile, is the latest venue to join Bloc.

The Barrel Project is the joint tap room of the London Beer Factory, a blendery, and a conditioning space for their own aged and craft beers, which they offer in addition to some of the world’s best breweries across 24 taps.

Spend an afternoon or evening between almost 200 oak barrels while sipping the same London Beer Factory house beer the barrels contain, or attend one of the many events they hold throughout the year. They offer two big screens so you can relax with friends and watch a rugby match or one of the many other sporting events they display throughout the year.

The Barrel Project

The in-house kitchen provides the perfect food to accompany the great beers on offer, and their knowledgeable staff will happily help you find the best combination of beer and food if you are new to the world of craft beer.

The Barrel Project combines a modern and trendy space with the traditional feel of aging oak barrels and all the necessities of a classic English pub. Like any good pub, they also offer a wide selection of wines, spirits, and soft drinks, should there be anyone in your group who doesn’t drink beer.

The Barrel Project is open Wednesday through Friday from 4pm to 11pm (great for that after work drink), 11am to 11pm on Saturday, and noon until 7pm on Sunday. The beers on tap are in constant rotation, so visit frequently to try something new.

The food, like the beer, is on a constant rotation, so you can try something new on each visit, and The Barrel Project is also available for private parties, so it’s the ideal location for a relaxed work event mid-week or a weekend wedding reception for a small party of 50-100 people.

The Barrel Project is located just a short walk from Bermondsey tube station, not far from Tower Bridge and is surrounded by many other great bars and restaurants, so it’s the perfect location to end a great day out or start your night right!

How Bloc Users Can Earn Money By Attending The Barrel Project

Bloc users can earn up to £250 a month by collecting Bloc’s in-app currency, stars. The stars can be earned in different ways but one way is by checking in and attending venues. If a user checks in and attends ‘The Barrel Project’ they earn 6 ⭐ (Bloc uses geo-location to know if you have or not). Once a user reaches certain milestones they can exchange the stars for real money. For example, 1000 ⭐ can be exchanged for £250. Here’s how the rewards are broken down:

1000 ⭐ = £250
750 ⭐ = £100
500 ⭐ = £50

Checking in to venues isn’t the only way to earn stars with Bloc. Stars can also be earned by inviting friends to join Bloc (10 ⭐ for every friend), following Bloc’s Instagram and by favouriting other users. The way ‘favouriting’ works is that every time a user is favourited, they receive one ⭐.  However, the person who ‘favourited’ that user loses one ⭐. Why would a user favourite another and send a ⭐ to them? This increases the chance of a connection and being able to chat in the app before an event.

You can check-in to The Barrel Project on Bloc by tapping ‘Check-in’ in the tab bar, via their advert, map or venues list.

How The Barrel Project Is Using Bloc Advertising

The Barrel Project is a featured venue on Bloc and is therefore placed in 4 different placements to increase their check-ins in the app. Bloc is the only pay-per-result advertising platform that works using geo-location. So a venue is only charged if someone actually attends their venue, making it risk-free and budget friendly.

Newsfeed Ad: this is displayed to every Bloc user within a 10 mile radius of the venue, in their newsfeeds. Users can check-in directly via this ad and is a great way to showcase a venue with location based advertising.

Stardom: The Barrel Project displays as a featured venue on our interactive map with a star instead of our Bloc logo. This differentiates it from the competition in a highly competitive area. This increases clicks to their venue by over 50%.

Top of Events: When a user searches for venues to check-in to on a specific date, The Barrel Project appears at the top of the events list. Venues featured at the top get clicked on first, which is an advantage over the local competition.
